(2 Timothy
2:15) Study to shew thyself approved

Abomination:
Extreme hatred;
detestation. (God hates what He calls an abomination with the Greatest; most
violent; utmost Hate!)
Abortion:
(In the 1828
Webster’s Dictionary: The act of miscarrying.) In the modern world it is the
systematic MURDER of an unborn baby, by a Doctor or by use of a pill. Most
often for a selfish reason such as: Inconvenience, Birth Defect, The Sex of
Baby etc…. (2 Timothy
3:2-3) For men shall be lovers of their
own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankful, unholy, Without natural
affection…
Account: An assignment of reasons; an
explanation; to explain and take responsibility for your actions. (Romans 14:12) So then every one of us shall give account of
himself to God.
Bethesda: House of mercy. (John 5:2) Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market
a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
Bible:
The Book. The King
James Bible is God’s perfect preserved word for English speaking people, all
other versions of the bible are perversions of God’s holy word; containing
error and missing portions of scripture. They should be avoided as you
would the Plague or a Rattle Snake. (Matthew
7:15) Beware of false prophets, which
come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Christian: A born again follower of Jesus
Christ; to be Christ like. (Acts
11:26) ….And the disciples were called
Christians first in Antioch.
Contend:
To strive, or
to strive against; to struggle in opposition, to use earnest efforts to obtain,
or to defend and preserve.
(Jude 1:3) Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write
unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and
exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once
delivered unto the saints.
Countenance:
The face; visage. A
merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the
spirit is broken. (Proverbs 15:13)
Conversation:
General course of
manners; behavior; deportment; especially as it respects morals.
(Philippians
1:27) Only let your conversation be as
it becometh the gospel of Christ: ….
Despise: To abhor; To contemn; to
scorn; to disdain; to have the lowest opinion of. (Proverbs 1:7) ….but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Dropsy: A watery swelling of the body.
(Luke 14:2) And, behold, there was a certain man before
him which had the dropsy.
Family:
The Bible defines
a family as one man and one woman. (Matthew
19:4-5) And he answered and said unto
them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male
and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and
shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? (God brought Eve to Adam to be
his helpmeet – God didn’t make another man from Adam’s rib and bring him a man
to be his helpmeet!!) (Genesis
2:22-24) And the rib, which the LORD God
had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall
be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave
his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be
one flesh.
Fear:
In scripture, fear
is used to express a filial or a slavish passion. In good men, the fear of God
is a holy awe or reverence of God and his laws, which springs from a just view
and real love of the divine character, leading the subjects of it to hate and
shun everything that can offend such a holy being, and inclining them to aim at
perfect obedience. This is filial fear. (Proverbs 1:7) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of
knowledge: ….
Fool: One who lives his life as if
there is no God. (Psalms
14:1) The fool hath said in his heart,
There is no God….
Grace:
The free
unmerited love and favor of God; the application of Christ's righteousness to
the sinner; mercy; pardon. (Ephesians
2:8) For by grace are ye saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Leaven: something which corrupts or
depraves that with which it is mixed; to taint; to transform. (Galatians 5:9) A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
Led: To be driven; carried. (Romans 8:14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God,
they are the sons of God.
Leper: A person who is afflicted with
a foul cutaneous disease, appearing in dry, white, thin, scurfy scabs, attended
with violent itching. It sometimes covers the whole body. (2 Kings 5:27) The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave
unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a
leper as white as snow.
Like: To be pleased with; to
approve; it expresses less than love and delight.
Love: to be pleased with; to regard
with affection; We love our parents and our children, on account of their
connection with us, and on account of many qualities which please us. We love
to retire to a cool shade in summer. We love a warm room in winter. The Christian
loves his Bible. In short, we love whatever gives us pleasure and delight,
whether animal or intellectual; and if our hearts are right, we love God above
all things, the Christian loves God with the love of complacency in his
attributes, the love of benevolence towards the interest of his kingdom, and
the love of gratitude for favors received. (Deuteronomy
6:5) And thou shalt love the LORD thy
God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
(Matthew 22:39) …. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mammon: Riches, wealth, money. (Matthew 6:24) No man can serve two masters: for either he
will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and
despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Pharisee: A Jewish religious sect who
followed a strict observance of rites & ceremonies and the traditions of
the elders. They considered themselves more righteous than other Jews.
Present: To set, place or introduce
into the presence or before the face of a superior; To come into the presence
of a superior. (Jude
1:24) Now unto him that is able to keep
you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory
with exceeding joy,
Prove: To try; to examine by
comparing with a standard (our standard is the Bible). By comparing something
with God’s word we can find out if it is good or evil.
(Standard:
That which is established by sovereign power as a rule or measure.) (1 Thessalonians 5:21) Prove all things; hold fast that which is
good. (Galatians 6:4) But let every man
prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not
in another.
Publican: Tax Collector. (Luke 19:2) And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus,
which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
Purge: To cleanse or purify; to purge
away sin. (Psalms
51:7) Purge me with hyssop, and I shall
be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Repentance:
a change of mind,
or a conversion from sin to God; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an
offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest
ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence.
(Luke 24:47) And that repentance and remission of sins
should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Sadducee: A Jewish religious sect that
denied the resurrection, a future state, and the existence of Angels.
Sodomite:
An inhabitant of Sodom - (Homosexual)
One guilty of sodomy. God says that for a man to lie with a man, or a woman lie
with a woman is an Abomination. God instituted the family in Genesis as a MAN
and a Woman – it wasn’t Adam and Steve or Sara and Eve, it was ADAM and EVE!! (Leviticus 20:13) If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth
with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: ….
Scribe: A writer and doctor of the
law, a lawyer.
Stand: To be in a state of fixedness;
hence, to continue; to endure. To be erect, supported by the roots, as a tree
or other plant. Notwithstanding the violence of the wind, the tree yet stands.
To be on its foundation; not to be overthrown or demolished. (1 Corinthians 16:13) Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you
like men, be strong.
Trespass: To commit any offence, or to
do any act that injures or annoys another. (Luke
17:3) Take heed to yourselves: If thy
brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
Trow: Think. (Luke 17:9) Doth he thank that servant because he did the
things that were commanded him? I trow not.
Quickened:
Made alive;
revived. (Ephesians
2:1) And you hath he quickened, who were
dead in trespasses and sins;
